Worshipful Brother Dan Owen
Brethren, the program presented by Brother Connie Eckard on 9/20 was well received. If you weren’t there you really missed out! This October 4th Brother Steve Ouderkirk will present a program on identity theft. From the preview I have gotten it is something that we all should hear as identity theft is on the rise and YOU are the best deterrent. Learn how to protect your hard earned assets and plan on attending lodge on October 6th. The V.S. Bayne chapter of DeMolay will present the DeMolay degree at 6:30 on October 18th, then stay around for the stated meeting to follow at 7:30! They have consistently been the best DeMolay team in the state for several years now. Don’t miss out! The Trestle Board is once again being sent by regular mail. If you would like to continue to receive it after November by regular mail, please send a check to the secretary for $7.00 (one dollar a month) to continue receiving the Trestle Board by regular mail. This is to defer the costs of printing and postage. Starting in December those who have not sent a check designated for mailing the Trestle Board will only be able to receive it by logging on to WWW.lodge153.org or when we have the bugs worked out, it will come to you by e-mail if you send your name and e-mail address to; nano.tech@gte.net .

BIKES-4-BOOKS – The Bikes-4-Books program is in full swing. On Friday, 9/22/2006, Brothers Gene Spaulding, Dan Dickey and Ray Schulz delivered fours bikes to the Kennewick School District. The bikes will be used at Westgate and Hawthorne Elementary Schools as an incentive for the kids to read. To date, we have collected approximately $2500 in cash, certificates and discount donations. We are currently conducting a raffle of a handmade knife to help support this program (picture on the Kennewick Lodge Website). The drawing for the knife will be at the first stated meeting in December. This program is a great opportunity for our Lodge to get involve with the community and the kids. If you would like to get involved with or have questions regarding the program, contact Brother Ray Schulz, Brother Dan Dickey or myself.
Fraternally,
Brother John Kimbrough, Senior Warden

Let's have some fun!! Who can answer these questions? Why is there Secrecy in Freemasons? What are the genuine "secrets"? Why are the three steps specified as 15 inches, 12 inches, and 9 inches? Why does "buried in the sand of the Sea ensure no trace or remembrance? Why does the candidate commence with the left foot? Why were Entered Apprentices given an "allowance of corn, wine and oil" while Fellow Crafts were "paid their wages in specie?"
In what ceremonies performed by The Grand Lodge are corn, wine and oil used today?
Remember, there are no silly questions. A Brother asks a question because he wants an answer! So come up with some questions that will cause us all to look closely at either where have we been or where are we headed.
Fraternally,
Brother Dan Dickey, Junior Warden
